The SEC continues to attract big audiences on CBS.
Last Saturday’s LSU/Auburn game drew a 4.5 final rating and 7.340 million viewers on CBS, up 25% in ratings and 29% in viewership from last year (TEN/ALA: 3.6, 5.714 mil), and up 125% and 143%, respectively, from 2008 (MS/ALA: 2.0, 3.024 mil).
This marks the fourth college football telecast of the season on CBS to draw at least seven million viewers. For some perspective, CBS topped seven million four times all of last season — and that includes the SEC Championship Game.
LSU/Auburn was the top college football game of the week, topping ABC’s Oklahoma/Missouri primetime game (4.3, 7.064 mil).
Earlier in the day, CBS drew a 1.6 and 2.346 million viewers for Notre Dame/Navy, down 16% in ratings and 12% in viewership from the network’s last Notre Dame telecast in 2008 (ND/NAVY: 1.9, 2.654 mil).
Last year’s Navy/Notre Dame game aired on NBC and drew a 1.9 and 2.809 million viewers.
