With a lead-in from The Heisman Trophy Presentation, the very last ESPN 30 For 30 documentary attracted a record audience.
ESPN drew a 1.6 U.S. rating and 2.517 million viewers for Saturday’s ESPN 30 For 30 documentary Pony Excess, even in ratings and up 6% in viewership from last year’s post-Heisman documentary, The U (1.6, 2.348 mil).
Pony Excess ranks as the most-viewed documentary ever on ESPN. The aforementioned The U was the previous record-holder.
The 30 For 30 documentary series, which began in October 2009, averaged a 0.8 U.S. rating and 1.193 million viewers on ESPN.
Birmingham, AL was the top market for the series (2.0), followed by Charlotte (1.6) and Louisville (1.5).
