Despite the controversy surrounding eventual winner Cam Newton, Saturday’s Heisman Trophy Presentation hit a four-year low in ratings and viewership on ESPN.
ESPN drew a 2.3 U.S. rating and 3.784 million viewers for the 2010 Heisman Trophy Presentation Saturday night, down 34% in ratings and 37% in viewership from last year (3.5, 5.990 mil), and down 15% and 9%, respectively, from 2008 (2.7, 4.151 mil).
This marks the lowest rated, least-viewed Heisman Trophy Presentation since 2006 (2.0, 2.950 mil).
Of the past eleven Heisman Trophy presentations (dating back to 2000), Saturday’s telecast ranks fifth in ratings and viewership.
The Midnight ET re-air of the telecast drew a 0.6 U.S. rating and 901,000 viewers.
