ESPN has denied ever taking any disciplinary action against writer Bruce Feldman.
In a statement released Friday, ESPN says there “was never any suspension or any other form of disciplinary action” taken against Feldman, who co-authored a book written by former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach.
Sports By Brooks reported Thursday that ESPN suspended Feldman indefinitely due to his involvement with the book. ESPN now says Feldman “has resumed his assignments” (ESPN, 7/15).
Leach was fired in 2009 in a dispute with the family of ESPN analyst Craig James, and later filed a lawsuit against ESPN for libel. In the aforementioned book, he accuses ESPN and reporter Joe Schad of providing biased coverage of the controversy, due to the influence of James and a PR firm he hired.
