Ratings and viewership for the Bridgestone Invitational were up from last year, but still could not match Tiger Woods‘ most recent victory at the event.
Final round coverage of the Bridgestone Invitational earned a 2.6 final rating and 3.835 million viewers on CBS Sunday, up 24% in ratings and 30% in viewership from last year (2.1, 2.953M), but down 40% and 39%, respectively, from 2009, when Woods last won (4.3, 6.254M).
Excluding majors, Sunday’s final round ranks as the highest rated, most-viewed golf telecast since final round coverage of The Players’ Championship in May (3.1, 4.672M, NBC).
Of note, the telecast outdrew final round coverage of the British Open in July (2.3, 3.246M, ESPN).
Saturday’s third round action drew a 1.9 and 2.644 million viewers, up 36% in ratings and viewership from last year (1.4, 1.943M), but down 10% and 9%, respectively, from 2009 (2.1, 2.899M).
