With Tiger Woods having missed the cut, overnight ratings for the final round of the PGA Championship dropped double-digits from last year — and by nearly 50% compared to Woods’ second-place finish in 2009.
Final round coverage of the 2011 PGA Championship earned a 4.3 overnight rating on CBS Sunday, down 14% from last year, when Woods finished in a tie for 28th (5.0), and down 43% from 2009, when he finished second to Y.E. Yang (7.5).
The 4.3 overnight is the third-lowest for the PGA Championship since at least 1995 (overnights prior to 1996 were not immediately available), ahead of only 2008 (3.0) and 1996 (4.0).
Overnight ratings also declined by double-digits for the final round of The Masters (10.4, down 13%) and U.S. Open (5.1, down 26%).
