FOX drew the second-largest audience of the NFL season during Week 9.
The Week 9 NFL national window, featuring Giants/Patriots in 55% of markets, earned a 16.7 final rating and 28.213 million viewers on FOX Sunday afternoon — up 2% in ratings and viewership from Week 9 last year (IND/PHI*: 16.3, 27.789M, CBS), and up 42% and 46%, respectively, from Week 9 in 2009 (SD/NYG*: 11.8, 19.285M, CBS).
The game ranks as the second-highest rated and second-most viewed NFL telecast of the season, behind only the Week 6 national window (DAL/NE*: 17.1, 28.213M).
Three of the four most-viewed NFL games this season have aired on FOX, including the top two.
The network did not fare as well earlier in the day. Regional action featuring Buccaneers/Saints in 41% of markets drew an 8.6 and 14.194 million viewers, down 10% in ratings and 8% in viewership from last year (MIA/BAL*: 9.6, 15.419M, CBS), and down 1% and up 2%, respectively, compared to 2009 (MIA/NE*: 8.7, 13.870M, CBS).
Of the 14 NFL telecasts on FOX this season, nine have had increases in ratings and viewership compared to last year.
