Airing opposite the Rose Bowl, the NHL Winter Classic fell to a record-low overnight rating on NBC.
The Rangers/Flyers NHL Winter Classic from Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park earned a 2.4 overnight rating on NBC Monday, down 14% from last year’s primetime game (WSH/PIT: 2.8), and down 8% from 2010 (PHI/BOS: 2.6).
Monday’s game was postponed from 1 PM ET to 3 PM due to weather concerns. Last year’s game was also postponed, moving from 1 PM to 8 PM.
The 2.4 overnight is the lowest in the history of the Winter Classic (five telecasts), dipping below the previous mark of 2.6 set by the 2008 and 2010 games.
