The Giants’ uncompetitive Wild Card victory over the Falcons managed to eke out an increase in overnight ratings Sunday afternoon.
The Falcons/Giants NFC Wild Card game earned an 18.9 overnight rating on FOX Sunday afternoon, up a tick from last year’s comparable game (BAL/KC: 18.8, CBS), but down 3% from 2010 (BAL/NE: 19.4, CBS).
The 18.9 is the lowest overnight for a Wild Card game on FOX since 2008 (NYG/TB: 17.1). Keep in mind that FOX aired the late Sunday afternoon game — typically the highest rated of the weekend — in each of the previous three seasons.
Though low for FOX, the 18.9 overnight is the second-highest for the early Sunday afternoon Wild Card game since the 2003-04 season.
