Though the numbers were not as strong as in the first round, Sunday’s Game 1 between the Flyers and Devils was the most-viewed second round game in over a decade.
Game 1 of the Devils/Flyers Stanley Cup playoff series drew 2.5 million viewers on NBC Sunday afternoon, up 11% from Red Wings/Sharks Game 2 in the comparable window last year (2.251M), and up 39% from Canadiens/Penguins Game 2 in 2010 (1.805M).
The game stands as the most-viewed second round Stanley Cup playoff game since regional action featuring Red Wings/Avalanche Game 5 and Sabres/Bruins Game 5 on FOX in 1999 (2.6M).
With that said, the game drew one million fewer viewers than Bruins/Capitals Game 6 one week earlier (3.52M).
