The Rose Bowl will remain on ESPN well into the next decade.
The Rose Bowl will remain on ESPN through the 2025-26 season under a 12-year media rights extension between ESPN and the Pasadena Tournament of Roses.
The deal goes into effect in the 2014-15 season.
The current Rose Bowl deal is an eight-year agreement with ABC that expires in the 2013-14 season. A clause in the deal allowed ABC to shift the Rose Bowl to ESPN once the latter acquired rights to the other Bowl Championship Series games.
Under the new deal, the Rose Bowl will air on ESPN each year regardless of whether the game hosts one of the new national semifinals. The game will also retain the traditional 5 PM ET timeslot on New Year’s Day (or January 2 in the event New Year’s Day falls on a Sunday).
