FOX ended a soft NASCAR season with yet another modest decline in overnights.
The NASCAR Sprint Cup FedEx 400 from Dover drew a 3.6 overnight rating on FOX Sunday afternoon, down 5% from last year (3.8), but even with 2010 (3.6).
The race stands as the seventh of thirteen NASCAR races on FOX to have a decline in overnight ratings compared to last year.
Though most of the races were down from last year, those declines were slight. Eleven of the thirteen races on FOX this season were either up or down by less than ten percent compared to last year.
With that said, several races approached multi-year lows in overnight ratings. The Talladega race, for example, was up 2% from last year — but earned the third-lowest overnight since FOX began televising the race in 2001.
For the weekend, Sunday’s race ranked behind both NBA playoff games on ESPN and TNT and the final round of The Memorial PGA Tour tournament on CBS.
