ESPN will borrow from corporate sibling ABC News for coverage of the upcoming Brickyard 400.
ABC News personality Katie Couric will interview NASCAR driver Danica Patrick for a feature that will run during ESPN’s coverage of the July 29 Brickyard 400.
According to ESPN, the feature will address Patrick’s “transition to NASCAR, how people perceive her as a person and possible sexism she might face on a daily basis at the racetrack” (ESPN, 7/20).
Couric is not a stranger to sports television coverage. During her tenure with CBS News, she contributed to the network’s pregame coverage of the Super Bowl in 2010.
