The annual clash between Texas and Oklahoma was a dud on the field — and in the ratings.
Saturday’s Texas/Oklahoma college football game drew a 3.5 overnight rating on ABC, down 22% from last year’s matchup between the teams, which took place one week earlier in the season (4.5).
The 3.5 overnight is the lowest for the Red River Rivalry since 2006 (3.3). This marks only the second time in the past ten years that the Red River Rivalry has failed to draw at least a 4.0 overnight.
Later in the day, regional action featuring including West Virginia/Texas Tech drew a 3.0 overnight — down 26% from coverage featuring Oklahoma State/Texas last year (4.1), and down 17% from coverage featuring Texas/Nebraska in 2010 (3.6).
