With rain canceling Sunday’s play, NBC missed out on what would surely have been another strong Tiger Woods-fueled overnight.
Sunday coverage of the PGA Tour Arnold Palmer Invitational earned a 1.7 overnight rating on NBC. Final round play was postponed due to weather. The final round of last year’s tournament, which was won by Woods, earned a 4.8 overnight.
Woods was leading this year’s tournament entering the final round, putting NBC on pace for another big overnight.
Even so, if Saturday’s third round was any indication, final round coverage would likely have fallen short of last year’s numbers. The third round dropped 17% from last year to a 2.4 overnight rating, though that still marked a 26% increase from 2011.
