With Tiger Woods unable to defend his title, overnight ratings plunged for the AT&T National.
Final round coverage of the AT&T National drew a 1.6 overnight rating on CBS Sunday afternoon, down 65% from Woods’ victory last year (4.6), but down only 6% from 2011, the last time he missed the tournament (1.7).
The 1.6 overnight is the second-lowest in the seven-year history of the AT&T National, ahead of only 2008 (1.5). The three lowest rated final round telecasts have been in years when Woods missed the tournament — this year, 2011, and 2008.
Saturday’s third round action scored a 1.1 overnight, down 50% from last year (2.2) and down 15% from 2011 (1.3). The 1.1 is the lowest for any round of the tournament on broadcast television.
