Despite the presence of the United States, the debut of the Gold Cup on FOX was not a big draw last weekend. In other news, CBS had sizable declines for the PGA Tour John Deere Classic, and ABC’s IndyCar package had a double-digit drop as well.
FOX Earns 0.6 Final Rating For Gold Cup Debut
- Last Saturday’s United States/Cuba Gold Cup match earned a 0.6 final rating on FOX. The match was the first ever Gold Cup telecast on the FOX broadcast network. Big Declines For John Deere Classic
- CBS earned a 1.6 final rating for final round coverage of the PGA Tour John Deere Classic, down 27% from last year (2.2), but even with 2011 (1.6). Final round coverage concluded on The Golf Channel, earning a 1.3 U.S. rating and almost 2.0 million viewers. On Saturday, third round action drew a 0.9 final rating on CBS — down 25% from last year (1.2), and down 18% from 2011 (1.1). (Weekend ratings from Sports Business Daily)
ABC’s IndyCar Average Down
- Including the Indianapolis 500, ABC averaged a 1.4 rating and 2.1 million viewers for six IndyCar telecasts during the 2013 season — down 22% in ratings and 25% in viewership from five races last year (1.8, 2.8M). With the Indy 500 excluded, however, ABC’s average was even with last year (0.8, 1.1M). (ESPN)
