The furor surrounding Alex Rodriguez helped ESPN to a season-high overnight for Sunday Night Baseball.
Sunday’s Yankees/Red Sox Major League Baseball game earned a 2.5 overnight rating on ESPN, up 25% from the same matchup last year (2.0), and the network’s highest MLB overnight of the season. The previous high was a 2.1 for Yankees/Red Sox in July.
The 2.5 overnight is also tied as the highest of the season for MLB on any network.
Yankees/Red Sox provided a bigger boost to ESPN than FOX this weekend. Regional action featuring Yankees/Red Sox in 73% of markets earned a 2.1 overnight on FOX Saturday, up a tick from coverage featuring the same matchup last year (2.0).
