For the fourth straight week, NASCAR’s Chase For the Cup had a modest increase in ratings and viewership.
Saturday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race from Charlotte, the fifth race in the Chase For the Cup, earned a 3.4 final rating and 5.6 million viewers on ABC, up 6% in ratings and 9% in viewership from last year (3.2, 5.1M), and up 6% and 3%, respectively, from 2011 (3.2, 5.4M).
This marks the highest rated edition of the fall Charlotte race since 2009 (3.5) and the most-viewed since 2008 (6.0M). Overall, the race ranks as the top Chase For the Cup telecast since the 2011 finale from Homestead (4.0, 6.8M).
Four of the five Chase races this season have had increases in ratings and viewership over last year. The lone exception was the opener from Chicago, which was delayed due to rain.
