NBC continued a slow start to the NFL season last week.
The Week 5 Texans/49ers “Sunday Night Football” game earned a 10.4 final rating and 17.7 million viewers on NBC last Sunday, down 7% in ratings and 3% in viewership from Chargers/Saints last year (11.2, 18.3M), and down 22% and 20%, respectively, from Packers/Falcons in 2011 (13.4, 22.0M).
The telecast ranks as the lowest rated and least-viewed NFL game of the season on NBC.
All five “Sunday Night Football” telecasts on NBC have declined from last year. The network’s only game to have an increase was the Thursday night Ravens/Broncos Kickoff Game (+1% in ratings and +5% in viewership).
Among adults 18-49, Texans/49ers had a 7.0 rating — down 3% from last year (7.2), and down 21% from 2011 (8.9).
