The NFL on FOX continued an extremely impressive start to the season last week.
All nine NFL telecast windows on FOX this season have had increases in ratings compared to last year, compared to just 11 of 28 games on the other NFL TV partners. Four of the nine FOX telecasts have had double-digit increases in ratings, while five have had double-digit increases in viewership.
The Week 6 NFL national window on FOX, featuring Saints/Patriots, earned a 15.8 final rating and 26.7 million viewers — up 15% in ratings and 17% in viewership from coverage featuring Giants/49ers last year (13.7, 22.8M), but down 8% and 6%, respectively, from coverage featuring Cowboys/Patriots in 2011 (17.1, 28.4M).
In addition to the string of increases on FOX, all six NFL national window telecasts (on both FOX and CBS) have had an increase over last year.
The first game of the FOX doubleheader, featuring Packers/Ravens, drew a 9.8 and 16.4 million viewers — up 7% in ratings and 11% in viewership from coverage featuring Cowboys/Ravens last year (9.2, 14.8M), but down 7% and 5%, respectively, from coverage featuring 49ers/Lions in 2011 (10.5, 17.2M).
