The 2014 NCAA Tournament has gotten off to a strong start on CBS and Turner Sports.
Second round coverage of the NCAA Tournament averaged a combined 5.7 U.S. rating and 8.5 million viewers on CBS, TBS, TNT and TruTV, up 4% in ratings and 5% in viewership from last year (5.5, 8.1M), and the highest marks since 1991.
The top telecast thus far was Thursday’s early evening window, which earned 11.4 million viewers. The window featured three primetime games. Friday’s primetime windows tied for second-place with 10.2 million viewers.
Six of the eight second round telecast windows had increases over last year, and five of the eight were the most-viewed since 1991.
Including the “First Four” on TruTV, the 2014 NCAA Tournament has averaged a 5.5 and 8.2 million viewers, marking the most-viewed edition of the tournament since ’91.
