NBC had a soft outing for coverage of the Stanley Cup Playoffs over the weekend.
Game 2 of the Blackhawks/Wild second round Stanley Cup playoff series earned a 1.8 overnight rating on NBC Sunday afternoon, down a tick from both Bruins/Rangers Game 2 last year and Devils/Flyers Game 1 in 2012 (1.9).
The 1.8 is tied as the second-highest of the 2014 playoffs on NBC (eight telecasts). The top three overnights, as should be no surprise, have been for games in the late Sunday afternoon window.
On Saturday, Game 2 of the Canadiens/Bruins series drew a 1.4 overnight — even with Game 2 of Red Wings/Blackhawks last year (1.4), and down a tick from Rangers/Capitals Game 1 in 2012 (1.5).
