Another member of the Atlanta Braves’ broadcast team during the ‘America’s team’ days on TBS has passed away.
Former Turner Sports broadcaster Pete Van Wieren died Saturday at age 69, the Braves announced. Van Wieren had been battling cancer.
Van Wieren broadcast Braves games on TBS from 1976 to 2006, and continued calling games on the radio through 2008. Most of those years were spent broadcasting alongside Skip Caray and Ernie Johnson, Sr., both of whom have also passed away.
During his career with Turner Sports, Van Wieren also contributed to other Turner Sports properties, including the NBA.
