Though well behind the top games on ABC and CBS, FOX still managed to generate a big increase in overnight ratings for college football.
Saturday’s West Virginia/Oklahoma college football game drew a 1.9 overnight rating on FOX, up 46% from Arizona State/Stanford on FOX last year (1.3) and up 12% from Kansas State/Oklahoma in 2012 (1.7).
The 46% increase was actually modest compared to what other games generated on ABC and CBS. ABC had a 58% increase for Clemson/Florida State and Florida/Alabama scored a 70% jump on CBS.
Head-to-head, Saturday’s game finished well behind Clemson/FSU (4.9) but tied Mississippi State/LSU on ESPN. Of the four college football games on broadcast over the weekend, West Virginia/Oklahoma finished third — ahead of only ABC’s afternoon regional window (1.7).
