After a record-low outing last week, Major League Baseball on FOX scored an increase in overnights. In other news, overnights were flat for ESPN’s college football doubleheader Saturday night, and NBC’s EPL coverage dropped a tick from the previous week.
MLB on FOX Bounces Back With Increase
- Regional MLB action featuring Tigers/Royals in 79% of markets drew a 1.5 overnight rating on FOX Saturday afternoon, up 25% from coverage featuring Giants/Yankees last year (1.2) and up a tick from coverage featuring Dodgers/Reds in 2012 (1.4). The 1.5 marks a 67% increase over the previous week, when FOX drew a 0.9 overnight.
Overnights Even For ESPN CFB Doubleheader
- Saturday’s Oregon/Washington State college football game drew a 2.1 overnight rating on ESPN, even with Arizona/Oregon in 2012 (2.1). There was no comparable window last year. According to Sports Business Daily, the game drew ESPN’s top college football overnight of the weekend. Mississippi State/LSU earlier in the night drew a 1.9 overnight, even with Auburn/LSU last year and down 21% from LSU/Auburn in 2012 (2.4).
EPL on NBC Down From Last Week
- The week five West Ham/Liverpool English Premier League match drew a 0.7 overnight rating on NBC Saturday afternoon, down a tick from Liverpool/Aston Villa a week earlier (0.8).
