CBS got off to an impressive start in Week 1 of the NFL season.
The Week 1 NFL singleheader window drew a 9.9 rating and 16.5 million viewers on CBS Sunday afternoon, according to Nielsen fast-nationals — up 4% in ratings and 6% in viewership from last year (9.5, 15.5M) and up 10% and 11%, respectively, from 2012 (9.0, 14.9M).
The telecast ranks as the highest rated Week 1 singleheader on CBS since 1999 (11.1) and the most-watched since the network resumed airing NFL coverage in 1998. Due to the U.S. Open, CBS has aired the singleheader in Week 1 every year except 1998 and 2000.
For reference, last year’s singleheader games on CBS averaged about a 9.7 rating.
