A rematch of last year’s Super Bowl helped CBS to impressive numbers in Week 3 of the NFL season.
The Week 3 NFL national window, featuring a Broncos/Seahawks Super Bowl rematch, drew a 16.9 overnight rating on CBS Sunday — up 16% from coverage featuring Colts/49ers last year (14.6) and up 13% from coverage featuring Texans/Broncos in 2012 (14.9). The 16.9 is the highest for the national window in Week 3 of the season since at least 1998, with no other telecast even hitting the 16.0 mark.
The 16.9 also marks the second-highest overnight of the NFL season, topping the Packers/Seahawks Kickoff Game on NBC (16.8) and trailing only the Week 1 national window on FOX (17.4).
The early doubleheader game drew an 11.1 overnight, up 44% from last year (7.6) but down 3% from 2012 (11.4).
