Wrapping up last week’s college football ratings on the major networks. ABC had mixed numbers for its doubleheader, NBC had another decline for Notre Dame coverage, and Oregon/UCLA managed an increase on FOX despite low numbers.
Mixed Numbers For ABC CFB Doubleheader
- Regional college football action featuring TCU/Baylor drew a 2.8 final rating on ABC last Saturday, up 17% from regional coverage last year (2.4) and down 10% from regional coverage in 2012 (3.1). Texas/Oklahoma earlier in the day drew a 2.8, down 7% from last year (3.0). Viewership was not immediately available for either telecast.
Notre Dame Down Again on NBC
- Last Saturday’s North Carolina/Notre Dame game drew a 2.0 final rating and 3.2 million viewers on NBC, down 9% in ratings and viewership from USC/Notre Dame in primetime last year (2.2, 3.5M) and down 16% and 14%, respectively, from BYU/Notre Dame in 2012 (2.4, 3.7M). All five Notre Dame telecasts on NBC this season have declined from last year.
Oregon/UCLA Up, But Small, on FOX
- FOX earned a 1.1 final rating and 1.8 million viewers for last Saturday’s Oregon/UCLA game, up 22% in ratings and 29% in viewership from Baylor/Kansas State last year (0.9, 1.4M). Keep in mind last year’s game aired opposite Oregon/Washington on Fox Sports 1, a much hyped game that was the site of ESPN’s College Gameday.
