For the third time this season, final ratings and viewership increased for Monday Night Football despite a decline in the overnights.
The Week 6 49ers/Rams Monday Night Football game drew a 7.9 final rating and 12.7 million viewers on ESPN, up 3% in ratings and 6% in viewership from Colts/Chargers last year (7.7, 12.0M) and down 4% and 1%, respectively, from Broncos/Chargers in 2012 (8.2, 12.8M).
The increases over last year mark a turnaround from the overnights, which declined slightly. Three times this season, MNF has ended up with an increase in ratings and viewership after a decline in the overnights.
Despite the better numbers, the 49ers win earned the season’s second-lowest rating and viewership for Monday Night Football. Only Cardinals/Chargers in Week 1 — a game that began after 10 PM ET — drew lower numbers (7.1, 11.5M).
MNF had a 4.6 rating among adults 18-49, down a tick from last year (4.7) and down 12% from 2012 (5.2).
