Overnight ratings dipped for the return of the NHL on NBC Sunday. In other news, overnights also declined for the latest Premier League match on NBC, as well as for the European Figure Skating Championships on the same network.
Blackhawks/Blues Down on NBC
- NBC earned a 1.0 overnight rating for the Blackhawks/Blues NHL regular season game Sunday afternoon, down a tick from Kings/Red Wings two years ago (1.1) and down 17% from Capitals/Rangers in 2012 (1.2). There was no comparable game last year due to the Winter Olympics.
EPL Down on NBC
- The Everton/Liverpool English Premier League match drew a 0.8 overnight rating on NBC Saturday afternoon, down 20% from Cardiff/Swansea City last year (1.0). Keep in mind that last year’s match, which provided a lead-in to the Olympics, ended up as NBC’s most-watched of the season.
Figure Skating Also Down on NBC
- Coverage of the European Figure Skating Championships drew a 0.9 overnight rating on NBC Sunday afternoon, down 18% from last year, when it aired weeks prior to the Winter Olympics (1.1). The telecast matched concurrent coverage of the Progressive Skating & Gymnastics event on ABC (0.9).
