Three of the biggest names in sports broadcasting history will work together for the first time. In other news, Turner Sports has announced the broadcasters for its NCAA Team Stream coverage, and Fox Sports has added Raul Ibañez and a pair of play-by-play voices to its MLB line-up.
Costas, Michaels and Albert to Work Together For First Time
- Broadcasters Bob Costas, Al Michaels and Marv Albert will work together for the first time on NBC’s April 11 Premier Boxing Champions telecast, the network announced Tuesday. Costas will serve as a special contributor for the telecast, while Michaels and Albert return for their second outing as studio host and blow-by-blow voice, respectively. Costas and Michaels have worked together for the past decade on NBC’s NFL coverage, while Costas and Albert worked together for years on the network’s NBA coverage. (NBC Sports Group Press Box)
Turner Announces NCAA Team Stream Broadcasters
- Turner Sports has announced the four broadcast teams for its Final Four Team Stream broadcasts. For Duke/Michigan State, ACC Network broadcaster Tom Werme and CBS Sports Network analyst Alaa Abdelnaby will work the Duke Team Stream on TNT. Brian Anderson and Mateen Cleaves have been assigned Michigan State on TruTV. For Kentucky/Wisconsin, Dave Baker and Rex Chapman return for a second straight year on TNT’s Kentucky Team Stream, while Wayne Larivee and former Badgers player Mike Kelley handle Wisconsin coverage on TruTV. FOX Adds Ibanez, play-by-play voices, to MLB Roster
- Fox Sports has hired former Mariners LF Raúl Ibañez as a studio analyst for its Major League Baseball coverage. Ibañez will work pre and postgame studio shows as well as MLB Whiparound, America’s Pregame and Fox Sports Live. The network has also added play-by-play voices Joe Davis and Aaron Goldsmith.
