Overnight ratings were mixed for the PGA Tour Texas Open, with Sunday coverage hitting a four-year low.
Final round coverage of the PGA Tour Texas Open earned a 1.5 overnight rating on NBC Sunday afternoon, down 25% from last year (2.0), down 29% from 2013 (2.1), and the lowest in four years — since coverage in 2011 earned a 1.3.
The 1.5 is the lowest overnight of the season for Sunday PGA Tour coverage on broadcast (nine telecasts), and the first to dip below the 2.0 mark.
The telecast was topped head-to-head not just by the NCAA Tournament on CBS (7.6), but by NASCAR Sprint Cup racing on cable outlet Fox Sports 1 (2.5).
Third round action on Saturday actually earned a higher overnight, with a 1.6 — up 14% from last year (1.4) and up 46% from 2013 (1.1). While the Saturday telecast faced no NCAA Tournament competition, that was also the case last year — when Sunday coverage easily outperformed the Saturday window.
