Fox Sports has hired one of the biggest names in NASCAR.
Retiring NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon has joined Fox Sports as a NASCAR analyst, it was announced Thursday. He will serve as an in-race reporter for the remainder of the season before joining Mike Joy and Darrell Waltrip on the lead broadcast team next year.
With Gordon’s addition, current race analyst Larry McReynolds will shift to the pre-race show next season. McReynolds will in turn replace Waltrip on the pre-race show, working alongside Chris Myers and Michael Waltrip.
Gordon served as a guest analyst on Fox Sports’ NASCAR Xfinity Series coverage earlier this year, a move that was interpreted as the prelude to a post-retirement broadcasting career.
