The Blackhawks/Wild has been easily the biggest draw of the NHL’s second round.
Game 3 of the Blackhawks/Wild Stanley Cup playoff series drew 1.8 million viewers on NBCSN Tuesday night, up 17% from Bruins/Canadiens last year (1.5M) and down a fraction of a percent from Bruins/Rangers in 2013 (1.752M to 1.750M). The first three games of the series rank as the most-watched telecasts of the postseason on cable.
Outside of Blackhawks/Wild, no NHL playoff game on cable this season has earned more than 1.3 million viewers.
In other action Tuesday night, Game 3 of Ducks/Flames drew 545,000 viewers on USA Network — down 62% from Blackhawks/Wild on CNBC last year (1.4M) and down 32% from Kings/Sharks on NBCSN in 2013 (800K). All three games of Ducks/Flames have failed to hit the one million viewer mark.
