Overnights increased once again for Thursday Night Football, though not by much.
The Week 5 Colts/Texans Thursday Night Football game drew a 10.7 overnight rating on CBS and NFL Network, up 3% from Vikings/Packers last year (10.4) and up 102% from Bills/Browns on NFL Network and local affiliates in 2013 (5.3). Overnights peaked at an 11.3 from 9:30-10 PM ET.
Last year’s Colts/Texans TNF game, which took place in Week 6, had an 11.2 overnight.
All nine NFL games on primetime broadcast television this season have had an increase in overnight ratings. However, both the 10.7 overnight and the 3% increase were the lowest yet for any of those telecasts.
Through Week 5, TNF has averaged a 12.6 rating in the metered markets — up 16% from last year (10.9).
