Fox Sports 1 has gotten off to its best start yet for college football coverage. In other news, NBCSN scored a pair of increases for NHL action last week, and coverage of the New York Marathon declined by double-digits on ABC and ESPN2.
FS1 Posts Gains For CFB
- Fox Sports 1 averaged 628,000 viewers for college football through week nine of the season, up 3% from last year and up 34% from its first year of coverage in 2013. To put the numbers in perspective, the network averaged 504,000 for regular season Major League Baseball games last season and is currently averaging 712,000 for NASCAR’s Truck Series. (Fox Sports)
NHL on NBCSN Up Last Week
- Wednesday’s Blues/Blackhawks NHL regular season game earned 572,000 viewers on NBCSN, up 17% from Red Wings/Rangers last year (489K) but down 3% from Bruins/Penguins in 2013 (591K). The previous night, Kings/Blues scored 258,000 — up a fraction of a percent from Blues/Devils last year (257K) and up 54% from Lightning/Devils in 2013 (168K). (via Sports TV Ratings [1], [2])
N.Y. Marathon Viewership Down
- Tape delayed coverage of the New York Marathon had a 0.6 final rating and 760,000 viewers on ABC last Saturday, down a tick in ratings and 18% in viewership from last year (0.7, 921K) and flat and down 16%, respectively, from 2013 (0.6, 909K).
