An overtime game involving two big market rivals delivered for NBC.
The Week 9 Eagles/Cowboys Sunday Night Football game had a 14.7 overnight rating on NBC, up 23% from Ravens/Steelers last year (12.0), up 29% from Colts/Texans in 2013 (11.4), and the highest for SNF in Week 9 of the season since Colts/Patriots in 2006 (15.1).
Overall, it had the highest SNF overnight since the Cowboys’ previous appearance more than a month earlier — against the Saints in Week 4 (14.8). Cowboys games account for three of the five highest overnights on NBC this season (ten total telecasts).
The Eagles’ overtime win was the ninth of ten NFL telecasts on NBC this season to have an increase, with each of those nine hitting a multi-year high. Every game on the network this season has had at least a 13.0 overnight, the network’s longest streak to start the season since reacquiring rights.
Locally, the game had a 34.5 rating in Dallas-Ft. Worth and a 32.8 in Philadelphia.
