For the fourth time in five weeks, overnight ratings dipped for the NFL national window.
The Week 15 NFL national window, featuring Broncos/Steelers, drew a 15.9 overnight rating on CBS Sunday afternoon — down 5% from coverage featuring 49ers/Seahawks last year (16.8) and down 12% from coverage featuring Packers/Cowboys in 2013 (18.1), both of which aired on FOX.
The 15.9 overnight ranks 11th out of the 15 national window telecasts this season, and fifth out of the eight on CBS. It was still the top NFL overnight of the day, topping the singleheader on FOX (15.3) and well ahead of NBC’s Sunday Night Football (11.7).
Overnights for the national window have declined in four of five weeks and 10 of 15 overall. That rate exceeds the singleheader window (6 of 15), early doubleheader window (6 of 15), NBC’s Sunday Night Football (4 of 15) and ESPN’s Monday Night Football (6 of 14).
The early doubleheader window had a 7.9 overnight, down 28% from coverage featuring Bengals/Browns last year (11.0) and down 29% from coverage featuring Seahawks/Giants in 2013 (11.1). Again, those telecasts aired on FOX.
