The final week of the regular season delivered a pair of gains for CBS.
The Week 17 NFL national window on CBS, featuring Jets/Bills in 54% of markets, earned a 12.8 overnight rating Sunday afternoon — up 19% from coverage featuring Chargers/Chiefs last year (10.8) and up 7% from coverage featuring Ravens/Bengals in 2013 (12.0).
The 12.8 overnight is the lowest of the season for the national window, though that comes with an obvious caveat — it aired in the early afternoon timeslot, rather than the traditional late window. Head-to-head, the telecast easily topped the early doubleheader window on FOX, which had an 8.7.
CBS scored an 11.1 overnight for regional action featuring Chargers/Broncos later in the day, up 66% from last year’s 6.7 and up 4% from a 10.7 in 2013.
CORRECTION 1/4: Earlier version of this post mixed up the two telecasts. The national window was the early 1 PM window (featuring Jets/Bills), not the late 4:25 PM window (Chargers/Broncos).
