Premier Boxing Champions made a good enough primetime debut on the FOX broadcast network.
Primetime coverage of the PBC on FOX earned a 1.6 overnight rating Saturday night, tied for fourth out of the series’ six primetime over-the-air telecasts. The previous five, which all aired on NBC, ranged from a low of 1.3 last December to a high of 2.1 for the inaugural PBC event last March.
Coverage aired opposite the premiere of ABC’s NBA Saturday Primetime (2.9) and the U.S. Figure Skating Championships on NBC (2.5).
The 1.6 overnight ties the lowest ever mark for the UFC on FOX (17 telecasts), but still represents a milestone for the PBC on Fox Sports — which was previously confined to subterranean exposure on Fox Sports 1. The two PBC events on FS1 prior to Saturday’s card had viewership of 168,000 (January 19) and 157,000 (January 12).
