For the second straight game, the Warriors delivered cable’s largest audience of the NBA Playoffs.
Game 5 of the Blazers/Warriors NBA playoff series earned 6.3 million viewers on TNT Wednesday night, up 32% from Grizzlies/Warriors last year (4.7M), up 24% from Blazers/Spurs in 2014 (5.0M), and the top audience of the postseason on cable. The previous high was 6.2 million for Game 4 of the series on Monday night, and the high before that was 5.2 million for last week’s Game 2.
Including games on ABC, the Warriors’ series-clincher ranks third for the postseason behind Warriors/Rockets Game 4 in round one (7.2M) and Game 1 of Blazers/Warriors (6.7M). Golden State has played in the five most-watched games of the playoffs and six of the top seven.
Game 5 had a 2.6 rating among adults 18-49, ranking second for the night on television behind Empire on FOX (3.7).
Earlier in the night, Game 5 of Heat/Raptors drew 4.0 million — up 5% from Wizards/Hawks last year (3.8M) but down 18% from Nets/Heat in 2014 (4.9M).
