Viewership plunged for a Game 7 blowout in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Game 7 of the Blues/Stars Stanley Cup playoff series drew 1.3 million viewers on Tuesday night, down 51% from Capitals/Rangers last year (2.7M), down 42% from Bruins/Canadiens in 2014 (2.3M), and the least-watched second round Game 7 in five years — since Red Wings/Sharks in 2011 (1.33M to 1.25M).
The Blues’ blowout win dropped 34% from Game 6 of Penguins/Capitals the previous night, which had 2.0 million.
Outside of the Penguins/Capitals series, which earned the four largest audiences of the playoffs on cable, only one game this postseason has had more viewers — Blackhawks/Blues Game 7 in the first round (1.4M). Unlike Wednesday’s game, national coverage of that matchup was blacked out in the local markets.
