Ratings continue to lag for the PGA Tour.
Final round coverage of the PGA Tour at Quail Hollow delivered a 1.9 final rating on CBS last Sunday afternoon, down 10% from last year (2.1) but up a tick from 2014 (1.8). The telecast also had 2.9 million viewers; comparable data was not available for previous years.
The 1.9 rating is the fourth-lowest ever for final round coverage of the event (dates back to 2003), ahead of only 2014, 2011 (1.8) and 2006 (1.6).
Third round action last Saturday had a 1.1 rating, down 21% from last year (1.4) and tied with 2014 and 2008 as the lowest ever for third round coverage of the event. The telecast had 1.6 million viewers.
Excluding rainouts, ratings have now declined for ten of the past 12 PGA Tour rounds on broadcast television. Nine of those ten declines have been by double-digits.
