With the caveat that last year’s game set a low bar, ABC’s Saturday Night Football posted gains in the metered markets.
Stanford/UCLA earned a 2.8 overnight rating on ABC’s Saturday Night Football over the weekend, up 27% from UCLA/Arizona last year, one of the lowest rated games in the history of the franchise (2.2). Compared to Clemson/Florida State in 2014, overnights sank 43% from a 4.9.
Overnights also increased a third from USC/Stanford the previous week (2.1).
The Cardinal’s win was the second-highest rated game on a slow college football weekend, behind Florida/Tennessee on CBS (3.7). Head-to-head, it trounced the delayed Oklahoma State/Baylor game on FOX (1.3).
Rounding out ABC’s tripleheader, Penn State/Michigan had a 2.4 (-14%) and FSU/South Florida a 2.0 (-20%).
