FOX had a second straight rain delay for its primetime college football coverage, but with a lower profile matchup far fewer viewers hung around.
Saturday’s rain delayed Oklahoma State/Baylor college football game had a 1.1 final rating and 1.7 million viewers on FOX, down 39% in ratings and 41% in viewership from Utah/Oregon last year (1.8, 3.0M) and down 45% and 46%, respectively, from Oklahoma/West Virginia in 2014 (2.0, 3.2M).
The Bears’ win was delayed 90 minutes due to weather, the second straight week FOX has had a lengthy delay for its primetime game. The previous week, Ohio State/Oklahoma pulled a considerably stronger 3.4 and 5.8 million, owing to those teams’ higher profiles.
For the weekend, Oklahoma State/Baylor was the lowest rated and least-watched game on broadcast.
Over on Fox Sports 1, last Friday’s USC/Utah game pulled a 0.7 and 1.0 million viewers, marking the network’s highest rated and most-watched game of the young season. Compared to Stanford/Oregon State last year, viewership increased 35% from 775,000.
FS1 also scored a 0.2 and 372,000 for Boise State/Oregon State on Saturday, flat in ratings but down 9% in viewership from Maryland/West Virginia last year (0.2, 408K).
