In a slow start to the NFL season, FOX has continued to buck the trend.
The Week 2 NFL singleheader window, featuring Dallas/Washington in 36% of markets and Seahawks/Rams in 26%, had a 12.3 overnight rating on FOX Sunday afternoon — up 14% from coverage on CBS last year (10.8) and even with coverage on FOX in 2014 (12.3).
All three NFL telecasts on FOX have posted an increase in overnights over last year, with the caveat that each of those comparisons is to CBS — which traditionally posts lower ratings for NFL games.
Overall, Sunday’s telecast was just the fourth of the first 12 this season to post an increase over last year.
For the week, the singleheader trailed the NFL national window on CBS (13.6) and Sunday Night Football on NBC (13.7) but topped the season premiere of Thursday Night Football (11.4).
