NBC is now three-for-three with declines to open the NFL season.
The Week 2 Packers/Vikings Sunday Night Football game earned a 13.7 overnight rating on NBC, down 16% from Seahawks/Packers last year, a rematch of a highly-rated NFC Championship Game (16.3) and down 2% from Bears/49ers in 2014 (14.0).
The Vikings’ win earned the lowest Week 2 SNF overnight since 49ers/Seahawks in 2013 (13.6). All three NFL windows on NBC this season have hit a multi-year low in the metered markets.
Despite the decline, SNF easily topped the Emmy Awards on ABC by 63% (8.4).
Minneapolis-St. Paul was Sunday’s top market with a 50.4 rating, followed by Milwaukee at 46.6. Denver was the top neutral market with a 19.6, followed by New Orleans (18.9) and Phoenix (17.5).
