Warriors, Cavs, Remain NBA’s Recipe For Success
- Clippers/Warriors scored 2.6 million viewers on the NBA on TNT Thursday night, up 131% from Rockets/Blazers last year (1.1M), up 68% from Thunder/Suns in 2015 (1.5M), and the seventh-most watched game on cable this season. The Warriors have played in eight of the top ten. Earlier in the night, Knicks/Cavaliers had 2.1 million — up 54% from Thunder/Pelicans last year (1.3M) but down 22% from Warriors/Cavaliers in 2015 (2.6M). Ratings for Thursday’s doubleheader were not available.
Steep Drop For Wednesday Night Rivalry This Week
- Capitals/Flyers scored 444,000 viewers on the latest edition of NHL Wednesday Night Rivalry on NBCSN, down 42% from Blackhawks/Rangers last year (769K) and down the same amount from Red Wings/Blackhawks in 2015 (761K). The previous night, Blackhawks/Wild had 236,000 — off 1% from Stars/Blues last year (238K) but up 77% from Sabres/Devils in ’15 (133K). Last night’s Coyotes/Blackhawks game bucked the downward trend, posting an 18% increase over Red Wings/Penguins a year ago (from 165K to 194K).
El Súper Clásico Posts Top Soccer Audience of Early Year
- Last Saturday’s Chivas/Club América Liga MX Clausura match (aka El Súper Clásico) scored 2.4 million viewers on Univision and Univision Deportes Network, the largest U.S. soccer audience since the final of the Liga MX Apertura season in December (3.1M). According to World Soccer Talk, it topped the rivals’ previous meeting in September (1.9M).
