In a season marked by declines, it constitutes good news that NASCAR viewership was only down 3% over the weekend.
NASCAR Cup Series racing from New Hampshire earned 3.2 million viewers on NBCSN Sunday afternoon, down 3% from last year (3.3M), down 13% from 2015 (3.7M), and the smallest audience for the race since at least 2000.
Ratings fell 6% year-over-year (from 2.08 to 1.95) to the lowest level since at least 1998.
Excluding rainouts, ratings and viewership have declined for 16 of 18 Cup Series races this season. All 18 races have posted a multi-year ratings low, 15 to all-time or decade-plus lows. In viewership, 14 races have hit multi-year lows and 13 have hit all-time or decade-plus lows.
